This Is It

Disc one features the original album masters of some of Michael’s biggest hits such as “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Human Nature,” and “Thriller” arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film. The disc ends with two versions of “This Is It,” the original and an orchestral version. “This Is It” is featured in the film’s closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, the Jacksons.
Disc two offers fans a rare listen to the early demo versions of classics “She’s Out Of My Life,” “Wanna Be Startin’,” “Somethin’,” and “Beat It.” This disc also features a recently discovered spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled “Planet Earth.”
Michael Jackson’s This Is It also includes a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring exclusive photos of Michael from his last rehearsal.

5 Stars This Is It
The more I listen to Michael Jackson’s “This is It” CD the more amazed I am at his talent. He’s truly the greatest entertainer of our lifetime…insightful, strong, sensitive…he embodied it all! Can’t wait to receive the DVD version so I can experience the visual too. Great album.
1 Star Skip It
Some would have you believe this is a powerfully potent epic with a penetrating message for today’s youngsters, but no “State of Shock?!” No “Say Say Say?!” This MUST be a joke!
5 Stars This is it, and lovi’n it!
I purchased this CD as a Christmas Gift for my son. He loves the CD so I couldn’t be happier.

Only problem I have with this is that the CD’s get scratch to easy. Other then that its awesome.
1 Star Sony stabs Michael Jackson in the back once again….
To say the CD “This Is It is a huge disappointment is a enormous understatement. Thank you again, Sony Corporation, for maximizing your profits at the expense of Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson must be turning in his grave over this release that Sony has made. Someone at Sony came up with the great idea: “Let’s put the same track listing for Michael Jacksons’s London O2 Concerts and add a few pitiful demo tracks. Then we’ll put some pictures in the CD booklet which clearly show the poor man was physically and emotionally unable to carry out a 50 concert tour schedule.” The only reason Sony Corporation was able to pull through 2009 financially was because of sales of Michael’s Jackson’s music after his death on June 25, 2009. Once again, Sony is cashing in with a useless release -any true fan should be appalled by Sony…. their greed is astounding. First, Michael Jackson was abandoned by Sony in 2001 when they refused to promote his “Invincible’ CD… Sony offered (on purpose), such a low budget for the video “Cry” that Michael refused to appear in the video….. So what is going on Sony??? You were more than happy to stab Michael in the back in 2001, and now that he is dead and he is bringing in the dollars for you, he is suddenly your new monetary God. It is my understanding, that Michael was so disgusted with Sony that he cancelled his contract with them around 2002…. now Sony sees the dollar signs and they are more than anxious to get the releasing rights to all of Michael’s unreleased songs. Michael was the ultimate perfectionist, he often recorded 10 songs that did not appear on his albums. For “Invincible” he recorded 30 tracks and used 16 on the final recording. Apparently, he recorded a number of amazing songs for “Bad” that have never been released. Also, there was the new album he was working on with a variety of producers such as Akon, Lenny Kravtiz and R. Kelly. I pray Sony does not get the rights to these songs. Other record companies have expressed interest in purchasing these recordings (since Sony abandoned him after “Invincible” and the obviously false child molestation charges of 2005) – these companies have expressed interest in working with the producers such as Akon to put together an actual new Michael Jackson album in 2010 with entirely new recordings. Sadly, Sony seems to have the upper hand which means more lame releases such as “This Is It” which insult Michael Jackson’s memory – Michael was the ultimate perfectionist – do you think he would be happy with the release of the song “This Is It” (a song he rejected for the ‘Dangerous’ album, and with poor sound quality that it has “demo” written all over it)??? Would Michael be happy with the release of a couple of lame demo recordings on a second disc? Michael Jackson would NEVER have approved of releasing this “album” of mostly rehashed material…with a few pitiful additions… Sony Corporation – please do the right thing – show respect for this great artist – do not attempt to get your hands on his new recordings…. If you do, Sony will carry on with the same pathetic pattern of releasing one new song per year with a couple of demos and a ton load of previously released material – just to maximize their profits and betray Michael Jackson…. Look Sony, you betrayed Michael in 2001, do the moral thing and let another record corporation release a new MJ album in 2010…..none of the fans are interested in your profit making and disrespectful approach – we don’t want another lame release like “This Is It” with a rejected demo (the title track) and a bunch of forgetful demo tracks and spoken word poem which already appeared in printed form in the “Dangerous” CD booklet…. The fans want to hear a new album with the songs that have already been leaked to the internet…. “Hold My Hand”, “No Friend Of Mine (Gangsta)”, “Another Day”, “A Place With No Name” , “Bad Girl”, and “Ride With Me”….. Please Sony, let Michael go…. he didn’t like you and felt you no longer respected his work – and you have demonstrated on “Invincible” and “This Is It” that Michael Jackson was 100% correct… Unfortunately, I sense that greed will take the day and Sony will gain the rights to Michael’s unreleased work…. the fans will be the biggest losers and the potential to build a wonderful post-death recording legacy will be totally lost with Sony Corporation. Sony has their eyes clearly fixated on the cash potential of Michael Jackson and they have demonstrated zero respect for him as an artist since 2001….of course, now that the poor man is dead he is now a top priority for Sony…….but, Sony will demonstrate no respect for this amazing artist….Do the right thing Sony – let Michael go – he made it clear in 2001 that he wanted nothing more to do with you…. You made no effort to promote “Invincible” and “This Is It” is a very sad effort on Sony’s part – you actually managed to disgrace his legacy…. Shame on you Sony … let another recording corporation put together Michael’s final recordings in 2010 and release an album that does justice to his great artistic legacy….
