Betty White hosted Saturday Night Live this week where she gave the Republican Party a fine example of how they should handle themselves in the upcoming Senate Judiciary hearings for the confirmation of US Solicitor General Elena Kagan to fill the Supreme Court seat of retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. There are a lot of rumors concerning the possibility that Elena Kagan may be a lesbian, which would make her very unlikely to gain any Republican support during the hearings on her confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States — not that her sexuality should have anything to do with her winning approval to the court. On SNL Betty White repeatedly called out a character in a sketch as a lesbian, with an attitude that revealed her acceptance of the young woman as normal. It would be nice if the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee could do the same and just accept Elena Kagan for who she is without having to give into pressure from extremists in the Republican Party.
